BRIEF NOTES Thermoelastic Green's Functions for Plane Problems in General Anisotropy

چکیده
A major contribution to the study of general anisotropic elasticity was made by Eshelby et al. (1953), who showed that, by making an appropriate linear transformation of the coordinate axes, the governing equations of the plane problem could be reduced to Laplacian form, thus permitting solutions to be written down in terms of analytic functions of the complex variable. This method was elaborated by Stroh (1958), who also gave the solutions for a plane dislocation and for a Griffith crack perturbing an otherwise uniform tensile stress. Eshelby and Stroh's method was extended to plane thermoelasticity by Clements (1973). The results were used by Atkinson and Clements (1977) to treat the Griffith crack problem with heat flow.

Both these results can be used as Green's functions to generate convolution integrals for more general boundary value problems and the availability of an explicit factorization of the rationalized form (3) of R ( V ) permits such integrals to be broken down into simpler terms by par...
متن کاملThermoelastic Displacements and Stresses Due to a Heat Source Moving Over the Surface of a Half Plane
If two thermally conducting bodies are in sliding contact, the frictional heat generated at the interfaces causes thermoelastic distortion which profoundly influences the extent of the contact area and the distribution of contact stress [1]. This phenomenon now known as thermoelastic instability has been observed experimentally in a wide range of practical sliding systems [2, 3]. Several theore...
متن کاملWave Propagation and Fundamental Solution of Initially Stressed Thermoelastic Diffusion with Voids
The present article deals with the study of propagation of plane waves in isotropic generalized thermoelastic diffusion with voids under initial stress. It is found that, for two dimensional model of isotropic generalized thermoelastic diffusion with voids under initial stress, there exists four coupled waves namely, P wave, Mass Diffusion (MD) wave, thermal (T) wave and Volume Fraction (VF) wa...
متن کاملReflection of Waves in a Rotating Transversely Isotropic Thermoelastic Half-space Under Initial Stress
The present paper concerns with the effect of initial stress on the propagation of plane waves in a rotating transversely isotropic medium in the context of thermoelasticity theory of GN theory of type-II and III. After solving the governing equations, three waves propagating in the medium are obtained. The fastest among them is a quasi-longitudinal wave. The slowest of them is a thermal wave. ...
متن کاملElzaki transform method for finding solutions to two-dimensional elasticity problems in polar coordinates formulated using Airy stress functions
In this paper, the Elzaki transform method is used for solving two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problems in plane polar coordinates. Airy stress function was used to express the stress compatibility equation as a biharmonic equation. Elzaki transform was applied with respect to the radial coordinate to a modified form of the stress compatibility equation, and the biharmonic equation simplified t...
